2D Quantum Gravity in the Proper-Time Gauge
A two-loop (cylinder) amplitude of the 2d pure gravity theory is obtained in the proper-time gauge (g00 = 1, g01 = g10 = 0) in the continuum formulation. The constraint T01 = 0 is solved and used to reduce the problem of field theory to that of quantum mechanics. This reduction can also be proved by using a conformal Ward identity. The amplitude depends on the lengths l1, l2 of the boundaries, ...
متن کاملGauge connection between the WZNW system and 2D induced gravity
We introduce a consistent gauge extension of the SL(2, R) WZNW system, defined by a difference of two simple WZNW actions. By integrating out some dynamical variables in the functional integral, we show that the resulting effective theory coincides with the induced gravity in 2D. General solutions of both theories are found and related to each other. 1 Gauge extension of the WZNW system Dynamic...
متن کاملWorldsheet Analysis of Gauge/Gravity Dualities
Gauge/gravity dualities are investigated from the worldsheet point of view. In [2], a duality between 4d SYM and supergravity on AdS5 × S has been partly explained by using an anisotropic scale invariance of worldsheet theory. In this paper, we refine the argument and generalize it to lower dimensional cases. We show the correspondence between the Wilson loops in (p+1)-d SYM and the minimal sur...
متن کاملGauge Theory of Gravity
The quantum gravity is formulated based on principle of local gauge invariance. The model discussed in this paper has local gravitational gauge symmetry and gravitational field appears as gauge field. The problems on quantization and renormalization of the theory are also discussed in this paper. In leading order approximation, the gravitational gauge field theory gives out classical Newton’s t...
متن کاملExtensions of 2d Gravity * †
Conformally invariant theories in two dimensions play an important role in the study of string theories, second order phase transitions and integrable systems. The Virasoro algebra and its extensions form the cornerstone of conformal field theories. More recently a lot of attention was devoted to the study of a particular class of conformal field theories: gravity in two dimensions. As I will s...
